Life's Surprises

When going down life’s speeding highway,
Surprises arise on the way.
Some good, some bad but always surprises,
Unexpected! What can I say?
The good ones come to make me thankful
For the goodness of God in his grace.
Day by day so many surprises
To bring a smile on my face.
The bad ones, well, they are different
And sometimes I don’t understand.
The bad ones bring tears and sorrows galore
Like the grains of the sea-faring sand.
But when I remember a Sovereign God
Who uses his comforting rod,
I remember my lessons in Sunday School
To always have faith in God.
God give me faith to take these surprises
As your way of letting me know
That no matter whether good or bad,
Faith is why I love you so.
