E'er Shone The Sun

God made the light e’er shone the sun,
Before the first flourescent ray begun,
Lest honor lie suspended there
Lest men give credit to the air.
God’s sovereign will and pure design
Had captured angels there divine
And shown the light upon the earth
That all may see amazing birth.
And often seeing every word
The angels drew on what they heard
And saw the frame of every being
As it was made, their keen eyes seeing.
Yes, light was here before the sun
Before the first fluorescent ray begun,
Lest honor lie suspended there
Lest men give credit to the air.
So working apt, the Lord went on
Before there ever was a sun.
How time, you say, how night or day,
How else to wile the hours away?
But God incessant carries on
Despite the fact there is no sun.
The fact remains, t’was day and night,
Made to be by God’s own Light.
Till sun was made, obeyed the Light,
And fell in rhythm of day and night.
For day and night were former made;
The sun in prompt obedience laid.
God made the world in one short word;
The sound of creation there was heard.
The Light resides in his own Son.
God was the Light e’er shone the sun.
